Indian B-schools going Global

Indian B-schools are going Global. After XLRI announced its MBA programme in Dubai a few years back, S.P.Jain followed suit ( Was Surprised to see a full pade Ad in "Straits Times" -- Singapore's newspaper about S.P.Jain's Dubai Campus ! ).

IIM-Bangalore announced last week that it would start offering part-time and Executive MBA programs in Singapore .

It would be interesting to see if the IIM Brand will sail them through abroad? Perhaps it makes sense for Indians living in these countries who want to return to India some day , to enroll for these MBA. But will they be able to attract the Local population ? That is something we will have to wait and see.

  • I also wanted to Blog on the same issue. I think SP Jain is wasting money by giving full page ads in Straits Times. It is not a known brand in this part of the world. I supposed they are not targetting the Indian expat community as the Indians would prefer to do their MBA in SPJIMR Mumbai for a fraction of the cost.

Singaporeans prefer to study in places in Australia, NZ & the US. They would not prefer to study in a place like Dubai. They might not know about SP Jain either.

The IIM's would not achieve their objective if they don't achieve a cross-cultural mix in their international MBA programs. I had been to the launch of IIM-B in Singapore. Most of the people who had turned up were Indian expats (mainly techies). The reason for this kind of turnout was that IIM-B had decided to go for a low key launch. The Bhavan's International School had sent a mail to all the people on its database. It would have been better if IIM-B had given an ad in The Straits Times inviting people for the launch.
